Bio

Toni Brown is an educator, clarinet player and director of music for the Quabbin Regional School District.

As a current faculty member of Quabbin she is proud to be a graduate of the same district.  Toni is also a 2000 graduate of Ithaca College earning a Bachelor of Arts in music education and a minor in mathematics. While at Ithaca she he studied clarinet under Dr. Richard Faria and in high school under Elisabeth Bryant.  She is also a National Board certified teacher of mathematics and has taught both music and math at various levels for twenty-four years.

Currently as an educator, each week Toni works with over two hundred students ranging in ages ten through eighteen to foster their love of music and development as community-minded young people through their growth as instrumentalists and collaboration in the band setting.  Over everything else, Toni strives to give all students, no matter their social economic or learning diversities, a place in the music program in which they can have a confident voice within the school community as a whole.  As the advisor to the Quabbin Chapter of Tri-M Music Honor Society she works to empower the young leaders of the music program to do the same.  Toni is also a mentor to all of the music faculty in the Quabbin program, working with a relatively new faculty to be a strong, collaborative program that is valued and respected by the community as a whole.

When not working with students and teachers at school, Toni performs with the Worcester Winds, the New England Symphony Orchestra and the Quabbin Community Band.  She also serves as the treasurer of the Quabbin Valley Music Educators Association which serves to give students in Central and Western Mass an opportunity to participate in the festival setting without the pressure of the audition process.

Toni is also proud to support her teenage children and their countless but exciting activities by serving as a volunteer with various groups including Barre Players Theater, Hubbardston Community Theater, Quabbin Wrestling Booster Club, Quabbin Area Little League and Friends of Quabbin Baseball.  She also serves on a number of committees at her home church in Barre and coaches the middle school girls’ soccer team.
